Septem sunt species discantus secundum modernos, videlicet unisonus, tercia, quinta, sexta, octava, decima et duodecima. Quarum istarum septem tres sunt inperfecte et quattuor perfecte. Imperfecte sunt hec: tercia, sexta et decima. Perfecte sunt hec: Unisonus, quinta, octava et duodecima.

Sciendum est eciam quod nullus debet facere duas concordancias perfectas unam post aliam sine aliquo medio. Item nullus debet ascendere vel descendere cum cantu nisi per tercias, sextas vel decimas. Hoc tamen addito quod post terciam insequatur quinta, post sextam octava, post decimam duodecima. De quibuscum(que) terciis, sextis, decimis possunt fieri due ascendendo vel descendendo, observata regula predicta. Item quando cantus incipit base et alte ascendit, discantor debet incipere discantum suum per alciorem concordanciam, ut ad hoc possit venire cum alciori [137] nota cantus in unisono cum illo qui tenebit et e converso.
