[239] Differentia est inter motetos, ballados, vireletos et rondellos et fugas.

Item de primo: omnes sunt moteti, quorum tenores sunt nullius prolationis, quia tenores motetorum sunt de mo<do> vel de tempore, sicut <I>da capillorum vel Impudenter, et ultra, quorum tenores a se omnes sunt moteti et caetera. Et illi debent cantari in ecclesiis, et est cantus ecclesiasticus.

Item: balladi vocantur illi, qui habent overtum et clausulum in primo versu. Et postea habent adhuc duas <partes> cum pausis generali<bu>s, et etiam apparet in verbis sicut de tonte flores, de che que fol pense et virginis mire pulchritudinis. Et omnes alii sunt balladi, qui sunt sic positi.
